Mervin has been in the animation industry since 2007 covering multiple roles in the pipeline. He started off as a Flash animator and then moved on to be a storyboard artist and most recently, a game artist/animator/art director for mobile apps.
His experience with Flash also introduced him to coding in actionscript. And while the current generation of mobile apps are not based off that environment, his knowledge of how visual assets are handled in code has helped him immensely in preparing wireframes, coordinate data and becoming the bridge between coders and artists for projects.
He draws in a variety of visual styles and adapts accordingly depending on the nature of the project through research and clocking in the line mileage. He uses a SCRUM based pipeline to manage project deliverables, deadlines and manpower.
He enjoys video games & shows with strong narratives and is always on the lookout for new sources of inspiration. His guilty pleasure is watching really bad movies and funny cat pictures.
In his free time, he enjoys long walks at the beach or people sketching at cafes.
